Back to Nerdliness!

Okay, after my procrastinative blog yesterday, let's think about what random nerdliness I've gotten myself into.

I keep trying to finish the Tower of Druaga but I watch the next episode and I've forgotten what's happened in the previous episodes and it's just really not making a lasting impression on me. I know my friend is in total love with the show, but I don't see it. Not yet. Maybe the ending is epic or something. We'll see. I've got 4 or 5 to go.

What else... I watched the newest movie remake of The Portrait of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde simply called 'Dorian Grey.' It was definitely interesting I guess. I haven't read the novel yet but it's been on my to-read list since we read its prologue in my Modern Literature class. So much Walter Pater [in both] it was fabulous. Don't get it? Look it up. But yeah, Ben Barnes just isn't attractive to me. Not like ShadyVox. HAHA. Yeah. It was okay. Colin Firth was lovely to see. As always.

Also, I've been keeping up with the Crunchyroll shows Kore wa Zomie desu ka and Level E. Both equally but uniquely entertaining. Zombie at times has far too much fanservice and creepy pedo moments, but any boy going through a Magical Girl Transformation is good with me. And the stronger he gets, the cuter is Magical Girl outfit becomes. Totally worth the ridiculously huge boobs on random characters. Level E, on the other hand, always seems to end in a completely different direction than it started and not in an irritating WTF kind of way. I didn't watch any CR shows last season and I'm glad I picked these two up. Definitely worth watching. [Even if Level E's subtitles are horrendous and ugly.]

...Still watching Doctor Who. Finally made it to season 3. And as I read the episode descriptions, the only one I haven't seen is the first one where the Doctor actually meets Martha. But when I stop to think about, the episodes with Martha don't stand out to me at all. I don't understand Bryan's sheer hatred of Rose. Her ending make me tear up and cry a bit. It was sad, albeit confusing at times. I mean, Rose wasn't totally Dawn-from-Buffy helpless, but was very good at it. She was an amazing Bad Wolf and I love her snark [not as much as Donna, but Rose gets second place... no wait Amy gets second, so Rose gets third]. I don't know when I'll get back to the Doctor or even Captain Jack for that matter, since school work and the podcast are going to take up so much of my time, but I'll update when I can. It makes me sad that I know who dies on Torchwood. At least I don't know how it happens or when. But still. Sigh.

...I can't think of anything else. I'm actually at work so I can't glance around my room and see what new stuff I've seen or obtained. So... until then. Cheerio.

It's like a kick in the nuts!

New favorite thing: Whachow, podcast by Psyguy, Liz, ShadyVox, and a whole bunch of other people. They're disorganized and nerdy and weird and awesome and hilarious and you should check it out. So do it, do it do it do it do it do it: WHA-CHOW! It's seriously so fun and ShadyVox, who you can follow on Twitter [like I do] is a hottie from the UK who I would bang into next week if I could. Okay, well, maybe not [yes I would] but he is super talented with voice acting, and it just really helps that he's a hott-ass Brit. For example he does Jaden from Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series and various Sonic things and stuff. LOVE. But yeah. STAT SCREEN.

What else is going on... my friend Bryan and I are gonna do a podcast! So far the working title is Inspired By and it's going to [hopefully] awesome. No idea what our first episode is going to be but it's basically going to be the Bryan and Chelly Fangirl Hour, talking about things we love that have more than one adaptation, like book and movie, or movie and video game, or book, movie, video game, comic whatever. It should be pretty awesome since Bryan can talk for hours about stuff and I can get him back on track. Eventually we'll have guests but for right now we're trying to figure things out for ourselves. I'll keep y'all updated.

Yeah I'm blogging this so I can not do my homework. Being a student is hard. I'll come back with more nerdly stuff later. Byeeeee

Fantastic!

Alright so I've been watching Doctor Who, Series one, with Christopher Eccelston. It's definitely not as engaging as the 10th and 11th Doctor. 9 is just, well, sort of, mean. Humans are apes and he wants to destroy the last remaining Dalek with no remorse. I don't know, it was very "Doctor."

Rose so far has been very Dawn, from BtVS. Oh look she's in trouble and needs to be rescued, or oh look she messed up and now the world might end because of it. Yeah. Ugh.

And at the moment, Captain Jack Harkness is being introduced and I would probably have NOT rejected his advances. That's all I'll say. He's a smooth criminal fer sure.

Anyways, I'm mostly just trying to get through these episodes so I can watch 10's episodes in order so things will make more sense. Moving right along.

Also, I bought a few DW audiobooks and so far, they're wonderful. Narrated by Mister Tennant himself no less. Lovely. So far, I've listened to The Resurrection Casket. Neat little twist in the end.

On the anime front, I've got one more episode of Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk and then I can start ToW: Sword of Uruk, or whatever it's called. Few days ago, I watched the first episode of Black Butler with boyfriend and he seemed to genuinely enjoy it, so we're gonn watch Season 1, Part 1 when he gets back from LA. I also finished Baccano! and the second half of Hetalia: Axis Powers.

Baccano! was a damn good show, though they could have done without the last 3 or so episodes. When you end an episode with the song and the credits but still dialoging like it's a real ending and then going on like it wasn't the end isn't cool. I didn't need to see the Rail Tracer propose and follow through with it with that mute French girl or see that crazy blond guy with the huge monkey wrench. IDEK. I love Firo and Ennis and Maiza and Czes, but most of all Isaac and Miria. Fabulous characters.

Hetalia is just fabulous no matter what. The language is more foul in English I think but I love it. But also, the voice actor commentaries on a few of the episodes makes it worthwhile. Absolutely fabulous.

I might as well comment of Tower of Druaga. I love the voice cast, most definitely. I could listen to Todd Haberkorn and Travis Willingham all day. And Neeba is a hottie but he hallucinates and speaks to this glowy blue girl which is too reminiscent of Bella Swan in her New Moon days, as @Eviey pointed out to me today. Gorgeous but damaged, that's always the way.

Okay, long post is long. Time to go. Still watch Doctor Who [The Doctor Dances], still moving right along. Keep on keeping on my friends [you know, prolly just me :P]

Allons-y!

Boy, was I wrong. JUST PLAIN WRONG. Donna, you are/were an amazing Companion and I don't know how I could have thought otherwise. Well, no, yeah I do, but damn she made up for it. Catherine Tate is FANTASTIC. She had a great run and a great plot line and man oh man LOVE LOVE LOVE. Now, however, since I know little to nothing about Rose, I'm gonna have to watch the 9th Doctor's episodes to really really understand.

Also, wee little fat monsters? CUTE.

Also also, I'm going to have an affair with David Tennant's real accent when I finally get married. Oh lordy. <3

Quick post. Back to the show.

Lastly: Daleks? Super scary to me now. Eeesh. BYE

What? Oh... shut up!

My newest thing is Doctor Who. Seriously. It's so much fun. My grandparents don't quite get it but I totally love it. And luckily for me, boyfriend likes it too. Matt Smith is just as awesome as David Tennant, although I have a huge nerd crush/girl boner on him. What I like the most is that they're not afraid to kill innocent people off, like on the Evolution of the Daleks. when they killed all their supposed Dalek/Human people. Anyways.

At the moment, I'm trying to decide who my favorite Companion is, except for Donna. I hate that actress and nothing will change my mind about her. I'll need to watch more though. I'm loving it though. I also like that when the people the Doctor is with is acting funny, he always asks them what's wrong, instead of ignoring it and letting it bite them in the ass later.

Also, weeping angels omg scary. The Daleks still aren't terrifying to me even though whenever I see them I saw RUHROH DALEKS. The last episode I saw with them they all got new paint jobs and became stronger than ever. And I've only seen on episode about the Cybermen. And I can't remember any other baddies at the moment.

Also also I love Amy's Scottish accent.

Okay, I'm gonna keep on watching and fangirling and loving British television. Bye!

Poor thing, poor thing

Currently watching Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I've only seen it once, so it's nice to see so many wonderful actors in one place. Alan Rickman, anyone? Mrow.

Let's see, what nerd stuff have I done recently... not much. Oh! Well, it's not nerdy, more like trend, but I saw Black Swan with some friends the other day. Now, THAT was a trip. Natalie Portman is just great in just about anything, but she could win major awards for her performance. Though I don't really like things where you can't tell if what happens actually happens of if the character is just hallucinating, Black Swan was intriguing, if sometimes dizzying. By that I mean the cameras followed around Natalie Portman while she was dancing and twirling and I had a major headache that night so all the constant movement was occasionally painful. I'd give it a B. Mila Kunis, also mrow.

Other than that, all I've been doing is getting canceled on by my friends for lunch twice and baking a ridiculous amount of tasty goods. So far, at least 3 batches of cookies, one banana bread [soon to be two], two pumpkin pies, a cherry pie, brownies from scratch and whipped cream from real whipping cream, along with making dinner a lot this week. Exhausting. Terribly exhausting. AND being in the kitchen so long on the tile with no shoes is bad for the feet. So so bad. My place is definitely NOT in the kitchen. Blech.

What else... not much, since this is my nerdy things blog, not my complain about boyfriend or talk about personal problems blog. Hopefully I'll get some more anime in tonight, since it just didn't work out the past few nights. I need to watch Baccano!, Tower of Druaga, and Shiki, thanks to Bryan. He has high aspirations and creativity.

Merry almost Christmas everyone [you know, the two or three people who'll read this]. I love this time of year and if you don't, I'll love it enough for both you and me. <33333

I'LL STEAL YOU, JOHANNAAAAAAA, I'LL STEAL YOUUUUUU.
Kay, I'm done. ^_^

ETA: Forgot to mention, I discovered BBC America and I'm going to record and watch every episode of Doctor Who I can. Today it had to do with three of the last four Daleks dying or whatever and only one being left. David Tennant, I'd have nerdy fun times with you, sir.
NOW I'm done.

END OF LINE

Last night, boyfriend and I went to the IMAX 3D midnight showing of Tron: Legacy. After a ridiculous amount of trailers that reassured that I will NEVER see another 3D movie, the movie finally began. Also: POTC just needs to stop. JUST STOP.

The Disney logo shot was pretty damn cool, all laser-y and awesome. The actor who plays Sam Flynn is so close to being hott, but he just doesn't quite make it. He's clever and interesting, but average altogether. Jeff Bridges is/was the male version of HBIC and pretty much owned it. The fact the Clu was a CG Jeff Bridges made it all the more amazing because, for the most part, it looks like a real person. The only real problem was the lack of movement of the facial muscles but other than that, it was good.

The effects were ridiculously amazing and the sound was fan-freaking-tastic. Daft Punk did a wonderful job, proving to the world how talented they are. I'm saying this in this way because I don't know much about them to begin with and for two dudes with crazy helmets to score an entire movie with a full orchestra in addition to the ultra mega techno beats, I am impressed. The light cycles were really awesome but the whole games scene with the red guys and the white guys racing around really dragged in my opinion. Maybe if it was Harry Potter and the long drawn-out scene was, oh, a Quidditch scene or something, maybe I'd feel different.

Quick side note: Oh Olivia Wilde, you beautiful gorgeous amazing woman. Never stop. Keep being you. And the same to you Michael Sheen, for the most part.

The plot was okay. Boyfriend kept pointing out Star Wars references, which made me realize that I haven't seen them in a looooong time and should get on that. Yeah, I'll give Tron: Legacy a C+. It was better than I was expecting and I enjoyed it for the most part, but I wasn't a fan to begin with and I wasn't converted during the film. It was nice and plot-average and effects-extraordinary.

I haven't watched anything today... no that's a lie. I started watching the Cowboy Bebop movie today. Interesting so far. I really really mean to watch the series, hell I even own it, but I just can't seem to get into it. But if I managed to watch the first 20 episodes of Darker Than Black, I can probably make myself watch Bebop. But until then, I'll either bust out more Baccano! tonight or some True Blood season 2. I hate you Steve Newlin, I hate you so much.
